Spain is the world's leading producer of olive oil, with an average annual production of around 1.5 million tons. Olive oil production is concentrated in southern Spain, particularly in the provinces of Andalusia, Jaen, and Cordoba. Spain produces a wide variety of olive oil, including extra virgin, virgin, and refined olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality olive oil and is produced from the first cold pressing of the olives. Spain is known for producing some of the world's best extra virgin olive oils. Spain is home to a number of olive oil museums and tasting rooms, where visitors can learn about the history and production of this healthy oil.
